ITEM SUMMARY:
On Monday, August 6, 2018, the City Council approved Resolution No. 18-R-0065 authorizing the Mayor
to execute a Contract with Knickerbocker Roofing & Paving Company, Inc. of Harvey, Illinois, for an
amount not to exceed $423,000.00, for professional services related to the 2018 Wastewater Treatment
Plant Roof Replacement Project. The Project included, but was not limited to, the removal of existing
ballast roof and membrane and insulation, replacement with 60 mil white Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO)
roofing over a minimum two inches (2”) of insulation, parapet/metal canopy replacement, guard rail
installation, downspout/overflow drain repair, and removal and replacement of exterior light fixtures on
the Sand Filter Building and Digester Building.
During the demolition process, additional exterior light fixtures were discovered abandoned under the
soffit; not reasonably known to exist when construction services were initially bid. The additional light
fixture demolition and soffit panel replacement resulted in an overall project increase of $1,560.00,
bringing the total Contract amount to $424,560.00.
ACTIONS PROPOSED:
Approve Change Order No. 1 and Final to the Contract with Knickerbocker Roofing & Paving Company,
Inc. of Harvey, Illinois, for additional services related to the 2018 Wastewater Treatment Plant Roof
Replacement Project, for a total addition to the Contract of $1,560.00.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
The Infrastructure Committee voted 6-0 for approval.
