Phillip Saas and Dale Smith request two special uses for the property at 123 N. Aurora
Street to allow a motor vehicle repair shop (11.2-4(C)) and a motor vehicle care center
(11.2-4(GG)).

Public Hearing Case PC 19-07 — Text Amendment
The City of West Chicago seeks to initiate a set of text amendments that would restrict
the sale of dogs and cats from retail outlets in an effort to deter so-called “puppy mills”
and “kitten mills.” The Police Department is adding a section to their animal control code
to enhance their enforcement abilities. Community Development needs to establish its
own regulations, consistent with the Police Department’s, to prevent the sale of these
“puppy mill” animals and to increase demand for shelter animals and from rescue
organizations. The change involves defining and listing Pet Shops and related uses as part
of our use list in allowed districts.
