7:00 p.m.
1. Call meeting to order at 7:03pm: Anni Holm, Adriana Sarellana, Lew Achenbach, Heidi Kuharich, Sara
Phalen, and City Liaison Rosemary Mackey in attendance.
2. Approve Minutes of February 21, 2019 and April 4, 2019: Anni made a motion to approve the
minutes of April 4, 2019, seconded by Heidi, all in favor. We did not have an adequate quorum to
approve the February meeting minutes.
3. Update on the Butterfly Effect: Heidi presented the labels that she made for each butterfly, she will
borrow the museum’s laminator to finish them; the commission discussed the interactive map
wonderfully created by the city’s GIS staff member Vicki and made necessary edits; public works will
install them early next week; exhibit will open on Mother's Day; butterfly mural with Juan Chawuk
needs to have details figured out ASAP-proposal needs to list budget, letter approval from Tampico,
picture of how on the building and how to address maintenance and builds outs needed,
dimensions, budget; discussion about how to create butterfly wings photograph backdrop for
Blooming Fest-buy a big painting tarp and let afterschool kids paint the wings with Anni and Lew
4. Update on 2019 Banners: banners are here, city will get them up, Sara and Uwe will finish the
banner map; 10:45am announce on main stage and banner reception from 11am-noon (Sara will get
food); Banners for 2020 will be the theme HOME building off of the City Museum’s 2019-2020
exhibit of the same name
5. Update on Artéculture: Buddy Plumlee is hanging the art tomorrow morning, Sara is doing the labels
for the exhibit, reception will be tomorrow night, Rosemary is delivering food; for next year, we
need to better address follow up with artists who have applied as they did not receive any
communication that they were “accepted,” also need to be more clear about what the $5 donation
goes towards and also need think through arteculture being in a “for-profit” business (issue of it
appearing with pick one business over another, instead of us explaining the commitment Kindred
has made to year round art); disclaimer on application
6. Discussion Proposal to Library Board Re: Landscape and lighting for loveevenmore: the library has
requested more specification as an agenda summary for the library’s board (i.e. could lighting be
tapped from the city’s parkway lighting-yes possible), next meeting is May 27" (Memorial Day), so
could shoot for June 24" meeting -Rosemary will put together a letter about what we are requesting
and Sara can present; need to discuss the landscape recommendations

a. Sara, Rosemary and Buddy will work to get the mosaic plaque up asap
b. World Make Music Day: June 21% PMV Art in the Park featuring a Jazz Occurrence
Guest Giovanni Arellano lifelong resident who is an artist and skatepark user who would like
to do a mural at the skatepark (steps: put together proposal, park district permission, would
paint impact the slickness?, include community aspect (we provide Gio a template for
proposal); if skatepark says no can we offer another location or opportunity to feature this
expression of youth art in another location
d. “Art in the Park(ing lot)” on the back of Gallery 200-covered space and the parking lot a built
in venue (Lew and Buddy discussed the possibility they will take it to PMV for further
discussion)
