Chairman Beebe called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M. Roll call found Commissioners Dan Beebe, John Symowicz, Joe Cavataio, Bethany Brown, and Kris Zimmermann present. Commissioners Bob Blaus and Kim MacPherson were absent. Also in attendance was Assistant Director of Public Works, Tim Wilcox. 2. Approval of Minutes. A. Environmental Commission Minutes of June 19, 2019. Commissioner Symowicz made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Cavataio to approve with the meeting minutes of June 19, 2019. There was one correction made to the minutes. On page two, section 6, Other Business, paragraph two, second sentence, the word protecting was changed to protect. Voting Yea: Commissioners Beebe, Brown, Cavataio, Zimmermann, and Symowicz. Voting Nay: 0. 3 Public Participation/Presentations. None 4. Items For Consent None 5. Review and discuss Commission Priority List. A. Review current priority list Adopt a Highway Commissioner Zimmermann asked if there had been any contact made by the groups Commissioner Brown and she talked to during Blooming Fest who indicated some interest in participating in the program. There has been no contact yet so it would be worth following up with them. Ideas were shared and discussed about other groups or organizations to contact. Some of those mentioned were, West Chicago Community High School, Jel Sert Company, and Wheaton Academy. At last month’s meeting Commissioner Brown said it looked like the east bound Adopt a Highway sign was missing from the section of Roosevelt Road adopted by Ball Horticultural Company. Mr. Wilcox check on it, saw it was there but it was leaning. He submitted a service request with Street Division staff to have it checked and straightened. Environmental Commission Meeting July 17, 2019 Page | of 2 ===== PDF PAGE 3 ===== [Extraction: OCR (rendered-page OCR)] Paper Shredding and Rain Barrel Pick up Event There was some discussion about a recommendation made at the June 2019 meeting that at the next event only one shredding truck should run at one time unless needed. In addition to the added noise of running both trucks it was also pointed out that fuel is being burned and wasted needlessly contributing to air pollution. B. Discuss new additions to priority list None. 6. Other Business There was some discussion about the Union Pacific Big Boy steam engine coming to West Chicago on July 26, 2019. The August 2019 Environment Commission meeting will be canceled. Commissioner Symowicz indicated this would likely be the last meeting he would attend since there is no meeting in August. He will send his official resignation letter or email to Mr. Wilcox. 7. Adjournment At 7:37 P.M. Commissioner Brown made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Symowicz seconded the motion.
