Call to Order at 7:07pm by Buddy Plumlee; Roll Call: Uwe Gsedl, Judith Horsley, Heidi Kuharich, Sara Phalen, Buddy Plumlee, Stephanie Ross, Deborah Walsh, and City Liaison Rosemary Mackey in attendance; quorum established 2. Approve Minutes of March 4, 2021: Buddy Plumlee made motion to approve, Deborah Walsh seconded the motion; minutes approved unanimously with no corrections 3. Discuss and Approve Proposal for Milkweed Art/Marketing Project: a. b. f. Artist changed to Chris Hodge; he has experience with this sort of assignment and is amenable to working with WCCAC on this project; anticipated turnaround from approval date is one month -Discussion included points about whether final artwork would be in color or B/W and whether it could be customized moving forward, licensed to WCCAC which would also own originals, clarification on measurements, proposed reproduction elements (posters, milkweed seed bags, stickers, postcards, etc) Discussion on adaptation of artwork to include or delete “caption” sentences at bottom, etc; Judith Horsley will work to provide educational phrasing as well as any further educational points for postcard, etc Judith Horsley will work to provide Chris Hodge with fifteen or so words on Monarchs and Milkweed to assist with inspiration Schedule: proposal goes before Public Affairs Committee on 3.22.21 (presenting for WCCAC: Sara Phalen, Buddy Plumlee); City Council on 4.5.21; WCCAC reviews process during 4.8.21 meeting to finalize for artist Proposal accepted as is, Heidi Kuharich made motion, Uwe Gsedl seconded; unanimous 4. Other Business: a. Artwork for 2021 Art Banners is in; judging yielded 20 finals, commission voted unanimously to add 3 for total of 23 banners; suggested for future: open to having more banners as long as it works within the budget; anticipating first week of May for installation; Sara Phalen will work with Uwe Gsedl to complete necessary preparations for printing Lew Achenbach with Jazz Occurrence performing for Herb Alpert’s birthday, same as West Chicago Monarch Butterfly Day (3.31.21), and will work a Monarch into final piece 5.
