WEST CHICAGO HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING

1. Call to Order and Establishment of a Quorum
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Malina at 6:00p.m. A quorum was established
and all members participated through Zoom.
2. Certificate of Appropriateness Review
A. C.O.A. 21-05 — 129 Main Street — Jersey Hurst LLC — Tuck-Pointing
Schwarz Construction, acting on behalf of Jersey Hurst LLC, property owner of 129 Main
Street, is proposing to perform tuck-pointing on the existing brick facade at 129 Main Street.
Several areas on the brick fagade have fallen into disrepair. The applicant is proposing to
perform the tuck-pointing around the storefront window, near the coping at the top of the
building, and other problems areas throughout the facade.
After a brief discussion by the Commission, Chairman Malina made a motion to approve C.O.A.
21-05. Commissioner Edwards seconded the motion. The motion passed with an all aye vote.
Prior to the next item on the agenda, Chairman Malina recused himself and Commissioner
Letsche assumed the role of acting Chairman.
B. C.0.A. 21-04 — 101 E Washington Street — Rite Way Auto — Brick Facgade/Garage
Doors
Vince Malina, owner of Rite Way Automotive at 101 E. Washington Street in the Turner-
Junction Historic District, is proposing to remove the existing brick on the front facade of the
commercial building and replace with brick veneer with an Oaks Blend color. The proposed
brick will match in size and color to the existing brick. This proposed work ‘was originally
approved by the Historical Preservation Commission in March of 2013. The applicant is now
bringing this proposal back to the Commission for approval.

The applicant is also proposing to remove the three (3) garage doors on the building, which
includes three (3) on the front fagade facing Fremont Street and one (1) on the side facing
Washington Street. The doors will be replaced with brown steel insulated doors.
After a brief discussion by the Commission, Commissioner Vigsnes made a motion to approve
C.0.A. 21-04. Commissioner Edwards seconded the motion. The motion passed with an all
aye vote.
Chairman Malina rejoined the Commission and assumed the role of Chairman after the close of
the previous agenda item.

5. Approval of February 23, 2021 Meeting Minutes
Commissioner Letsche made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Vigsnes, to approve the
February 23, 2021 minutes as presented. With a voice vote of all ayes and zero no, the motion
carried.

Chairman Malina a made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Letsche, to adjourn the meeting.
With a voice vote of all ayes the motion carried. The meeting, at 6:38 p.m., adjourned.
