Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of a Quorum. Chairman Chassee called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Roll Call found Alderman Brown, Hallett, Birch Ferguson, Swiatek and Short. Alderman Jakabcsin was not present. 2. Approval of Minutes. A. Public Affairs Committee Minutes of May 24, 2021. Alderman Swiatek made a motion, seconded by Alderman Short to approve the minutes of the Public Affairs Committee meeting. Voting Aye: Chairman Chassee, Alderman Brown, Hallett, Birch Ferguson, Swiatek and Short. Voting Nay: 0. Motion carried. 3. Public Participation / Presentations. The business owners of Bunker Bar Grill, Twin Eagle and Hawthorne’s Backyard expressed their concerns on having video gaming at their establishments. They want to stay competitive with surrounding towns that have video gaming so that they can bring in money to their business and the City. These owners would like the City to revisit video gaming. 4, Items for Consent. A. Fireworks at Reed-Keepler Park Tacos and Art Fest - Alderman Swiatek made a motion, seconded by Alderman Birch Ferguson to direct this item to City Council for approval. Voting Aye: Chairman Chassee, Alderman Brown, Hallett, Birch Ferguson, Swiatek and Short. Voting Nay: 0. Motion carried. B. Healthy West Chicago Fun Run Special Permit Application Healthy West Chicago - Alderman Swiatek made a motion, seconded by Alderman Birch Ferguson to direct this item to City Council for approval. Chairman Chasse gave direction to Chief Fleury to reach out to surrounding communities to find out if there have been an increase in calls for service, domestic violence, gambling addiction issues, etc. Staff will bring back their findings to this Committee to review the facts.
