Chairman Beebe called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. Roll call found Commissioners Dan Beebe, Bethany Brown, and Kris Zimmermann present. Bob Blaus and Joe Cavataio were absent. Staff present included Assistant Director of Public Works, Tim Wilcox. 2. Approval of Minutes. A. Environmental Commission Minutes of March 17, 2021. Commissioner Zimmermann made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown to approve the meeting minutes of March 17, 2021. Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Brown, and Zimmermann. Voting Nay: zero. B. Environmental Commission Minutes of May 19, 2021. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Zimmermann to approve the meeting minutes of May 19, 2021. Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Brown, and Zimmermann. Voting Nay: zero. 3. Public Participation/Presentations. None. 4. Items For Consent None 5. Review and discuss Commission Priority List. A. Review current priority list Chairman Beebe suggested that when all Commissioners are present at a future meeting, the group should discuss and assess outstanding priority issues and new items, to determine which ones the group should focus on. Other Business Members briefly discussed a request from Rosemary Mackey, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the City to provide her with articles, which could also be seasonal, related to the environment for use in official City news releases and newsletters. Members also briefly discussed the current fires burning on the west coast and the affect they are having on the environment here and as far away as New York. City Sustainability Goals were mentioned, and possible City goals were briefly discussed. Commission Brown reported damage to Ball Horticultural’s Adopt a Highway sign(s) on Roosevelt Road to Mr. Wilcox. He will have the Street Division check the signs and make repairs as needed. Commissioner Zimmermann mentioned there is a Facebook “what’s happening in West Chicago” page. She also mentioned the idea of creating a “where can I take my stuff” article for the City newsletter, related to what and where to recycle, as well as where to dispose of other items or materials that cannot be recycled. 7. Adjournment At 7:40 P.M. Commissioner Brown made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Zimmermann seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously approved by voice vote.
