Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of a Quorum. Chairman Beebe called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. Roll call found Commissioners Dan Beebe, Bethany Brown, Bob Blaus, and Joe Cavataio present, Commissioners Liuan Huska and Kris Zimmermann were absent. Staff present included Assistant Director of Public Works, Tim Wilcox. 2. Approval of Minutes. A. Environmental Commission Minutes of October 20, 2021. Commissioner Brown made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Blaus to approve the meeting minutes of September 15, 2021. Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Brown, Blaus and Cavataio. Voting Nay: zero. 3. Public Participation/Presentations. None 4. Items For Consent None 5. Review and discuss Commission Priority List. A. Review current priority list Pumpkin Composting Commissioners discussed the event held at the First United Methodist Church of West Chicago on November 6, 2021. All went well at the event in West Chicago. Judith Horsley said they collected about the same or a tad more than last year. Commissioner Blaus said Elmhurst doubled their car count from last year, and SCARCE posted overall good numbers. Some of the group thought it would be better to host the event later in the year, or even a second collection event, since many people use pumpkins for fall decorations. Mr. Wilcox expects a reply soon from Groot for total tons collected at the event. The drop off/collection schedule is for November 26, 2021 — January 21, 2022. Commissioner Blaus said he contacted Murphy’s Ace Hardware and they will again allow a tote placed in the store. Other locations include 1400 W. Hawthorne (Water Treatment Plant), Library, City Hall, and the First United Methodist Church. Priority List Items Commissioners were asked to be prepared to discuss and prioritize current and past items at the next Environmental Commission meeting. B. Discuss new additions to priority list None. 6. Other Business Topic discussed include, electric car charging stations, food composting at schools in DuPage County (most if not all are no longer doing), and Commissioner Zimmermann’s Google Docs sheet. The December 15, 2021 Environmental Commission Meeting will be canceled. 7. Adjournment At 7:24 P.M., Commissioner Blaus made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Brown seconded the motion.
