Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of a Quorum. Chairman Beebe called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Roll call found Commissioners Dan Beebe, Bob Blaus, Bethany Brown, Joe Cavataio, Anna Leuer, and Ethan Young present. Commissioner Kris Zimmermann was absent. Staff present included Assistant Director of Public Works, Tim Wilcox. 2. Approval of Minutes. A. Environmental Commission Minutes of February 16, 2022. Commissioner Blaus made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Young to approve the Meeting Minutes of February 16, 2022. Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Blaus, Brown, Cavataio, Leuer, and Young. Voting Nay: zero. B. Environmental Commission Minutes of March 16, 2022. Commissioner Blaus made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Leuer to approve the Meeting Minutes of March 16, 2022. Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Blaus, Brown, Cavataio, Leuer, and Young. Voting Nay: zero. 3. Public Participation/Presentations. None 4. Items for Consent. Commissioner Blaus made a motion to approve. Commissioner Brown seconded the motion to approve: Participation of SCARCE/DuPage County Sheriff Department to Collect Sharps and Expired Prescription Medication at the 2022 Paper Shredding Event. Roll call found the vote unanimous for approval. Voting Yea Commissioner Beebe, Blaus, Brown, Cavataio, Leuer, and Young. Voting Nay: 0. 5. Review and discuss Commission Priority List. A. Smith Michael L Guttman ===== PDF PAGE 2 ===== [Extraction: OCR (rendered-page OCR)] Blooming Fest The event is on the schedule for May 21, 2022. The time of the event is 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Volunteers should plan to arrive at 8:00 A.M. to help setup. Commissioner Beebe has reserved a booth space and he will bring his tent and the Environmental Commission banner. Mr. Wilcox will arrange to have a table delivered. Groot Industries, Inc. agreed to provide magnetic clips and reusable shopping bags to give away. Mr. Wilcox will print copies of the Recycling 101 flyer. He will also print and bring a map of the City showing the Adopt A Highway roads available. Other information items mentioned to present were the Mayors Monarch pledge, proper recycling to prevent contamination, electronic recycling, and instructing people where to bring household hazardous waste products. Adopt A Highway The date and time for the Environmental Commission’s spring collection event is April 23, 2022, 8:00 A.M. - noon. Commissioner Beebe summarized what and what not to pick up. He will bring pick sticks, safety vests, and trash bags. Commissioner Brown mentioned that Ball Horticultural Company plan to hold their spring Adopt a Highway event on April 28, 2022. Annual Paper Shredding Event The event will be held on June 4, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. to noon. Mr. Wilcox passed out a plan view of last year’s event. There was discussion to determine the best location for rain barrel pick up and Sharps collection, since they were not included with the event last year. Chairman Beebe mentioned he talked to Officer Nielson and was informed she and her Explorers will be working the Touch a Truck event so would not be able to provide traffic control for the shredding event. There was some discussion about possibly moving the event date in the future so it will not coincide with the Touch a Truck event. Commissioner Beebe asked the group to look at last year’s plan and bring ideas to the next meeting. Commissioner Brown suggested placing arrow signs on the barricades to provide better direction for people so they know where to go. Rain Barrel Pickup Event There has been no update from Upcycle Products, Inc.as to how may rain barrels may have been ordered for pick up at the event. B. Adjournment At 7:38 P.M., Commissioner Blaus made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Leuer seconded the motion. Motion was unanimously approved by voice vote.
