                              MINUTES

                    ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION

                                       July 20, 2022, 7:00 P.M.

1.      Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of a Quorum.

Chairman Beebe called the meeting to order at 7:11 P.M. Roll call found Commissioners Dan Beebe, Bob
Blaus, Bethany Brown, Ethan Young, and Kris Zimmermann present. Commissioner Anna Leuer was
absent.

 Staff present included Assistant Director of Public Works, Tim Wilcox.

2.     Approval of Minutes.

       A. Environmental Commission Minutes of June 15, 2022. Commissioner Zimmermann
        made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Brown to approve the Meeting Minutes of
          June 15, 2022.

Voting Yea: Commissioner Beebe, Blaus, Brown, Young, and Zimmermann. Voting Nay: zero.


3.      Public Participation/Presentations.

5.     Review and discuss Commission Priority List.

Annual Paper Shredding Event

Chairman Beebe recapped the event held on June 4, 2022 Members received positive feedback from
attendees. There was a total of 6,720 pounds of paper recycled at the event. Kay McKeen was contacted
and she said the amount of sharps and expired medications was six full bins, which have been averaging
40 pounds each, about 240 pounds.

Rain barrel Partner Program

Commissioner Brown said she had a discussion with Susanna Ball about hosting a seminar at Ball
Horticultural Company. She received positive a response, especially if the talk is about gardens or
pollinator gardens. It may also meet one of the Mayors Monarch Pledge goals for Public Education. This

is still open for discussion as to when it could occur. Fall was suggested, when kids are back in school.
Probably in the middle of the week.

Adopt A Highway

Next cleanup event is scheduled for October 8, 2022.

Chairman Beebe, also President of the Garden Club, submitted and Adopt A Highway application for the
Garden Club, adopting Hawthorne Lane between Harvester Road and Woodside Drive.


       B.     Discuss new additions to priority list

None.

6.     Other Business

The August 17, 2022 Environmental Commission meeting will be canceled.

Commissioners Zimmermann and Young will likely not make the September 21, 2022 meeting.

There was a brief discussion about COVID-19 and the various methods available to access vaccination
records instead of carrying the original paper record.

7.     Adjournment

At 7:33 P.M., Commissioner Blaus made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Young seconded the
motion. Motion was unanimously approved by voice vote.
