CITY OF WEST CHICAGO -— 475 Main Street CITY COUNCIL MINUTES Regular Meeting May 1, 2023 1. Call to Order. Mayor Ruben Pineda called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. on May 1, 2023. 2. Pledge of Allegiance. Alderman Smith, Jr. led all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Pat Bond introduced Retired Judge Tom Stanfa. 3. Oath of Office for Newly Elected Officials Administered by Judge Stanfa (Ret.) Ward 1 — Dan Beebe Ward 2 — Jayme Sheahan Ward 3 - Alton Hallett Ward 4 — Melissa J. Ferguson Ward 5 — John C. Smith, Jr. Ward 6 — Rebecca Stout Ward 7 — Joseph Morano 4. Roll Call and Establishment of a Quorum. Roll call found Lori Chassee, Dan Beebe, Jayme Sheahan, Rebecca Stout, Melissa Birch Ferguson, Sandy Dimas, Christine Dettmann, John C. Smith, Jr., Joseph C. Morano, Alton Hallett, and John E. Jakabcsin present. Aldermen Heather Brown, Christopher Swiatek, and Jeanne Short were absent. The Mayor announced a quorum. Also in attendance were City Administrator Michael Guttman, Finance Director Nikki Giles, Director of Public Works Mehul Patel, Director of Community Development Tom Dabareiner, Chief of Police Colin Fleury, Assistant City Administrator Tia Messino, Assistant Finance Director Diana Soltess and City Attorney Pat Bond. 5. Public Participation. None 6. City Council Meeting Minutes of April 17, 2023. Alderman Chassee made a motion, seconded by Alderman Sheahan, to approve the minutes of April 17, 2023. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Chassee, Beebe, Stout, Birch Ferguson, Dimas, Dettmann, Morano, Hallett, Sheahan, and Jakabcsin. Alderman Smith, Jr. abstained. Motion carried. 7. Corporate Disbursement Report. Alderman Dimas made a motion, seconded by Alderman Chassee to approve the May 1, 2023, Corporate Disbursement Report in the amount of $479,776.37. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Chassee, Beebe, Stout, Birch Ferguson, Dimas, Dettmann, Smith, Jr., Morano, Hallett, Sheahan, and Jakabcsin. Motion carried. 8. Consent Agenda * Public Affairs Committee: A. Resolution No. 23-R-0042 — A Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Execute a First Amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement Between the City of West Chicago and Pace, the Suburban Bus Division of the Regional Transportation Authority. B. Approve — The Railroad Days 2023 Event — Scheduled for Thursday, June 22, 2023 — Sunday, June 25, 2023. Alderman Chassee made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hallett, to approve the above items.
