                MEETING MINUTES

           ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION

                       June 21, 2023, 7:00 P.M.

1.  Call to Order Establish a Quorum
       a.  Staff Liaison, Dave Shah, called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M. Roll call
         found Commissioners Thomas Cherrington, Nazree Williams, and Kris
        Zimmermann present.
       b.  Staff present included Assistant Director of Public Works, Dave Shah.

2. Selection of a Chairman and Co-Chairman
       a. The Commission preferred the selection of Chairman and Co-Chairman
        when more members were present. This item will be presented again at the
          July 19, 2023, meeting.

3. Approval of Minutes
       a. Environmental Commission Minutes of March 15, 2023
                         i. Commissioner  Cherrington  made  a  motion,  seconded  by
              Commissioner Zimmermann, to approve the Meeting Minutes.
                         ii.  Voting Yea: Commissioner Cherrington, Williams, and Zimmermann.
                Voting Nay: zero.
       b. Environmental Commission Minutes of May 17, 2023
                         i. Commissioner  Cherrington  made  a  motion,  seconded  by
              Commissioner Williams, to approve the Meeting Minutes.
                         ii.  Voting Yea: Commissioner Cherrington, Williams, and Zimmermann.
                Voting Nay: zero.

       a. Paper Shredding Event Statistics
                         i.  4.65 tons of paper was shredded
                         ii. 231 vehicles & walk-ups
                         iii. 13 American flags
                 iv. 41 Eyeglasses
               v. One Hearing Aid
                 vi. One Rain Barrel Pick-up
                  vii.  Sherriff’s office collected the following:
                     1. Four boxes of syringes
                     2. Approximately 150 lbs. of medications
       b. Discussion: Commissioner Cherrington discussed global issues related to
          climate change and global warming. Cherrington was also interested in
         promoting native plants and being a leader in the community to discourage
          the use of fertilizers and chemicals and encourage infrequent lawn cutting.
         Furthermore, Cherrington wanted the Commission to partner with local
         businesses to encourage residents to build butterfly gardens and plant more
          native  plant  species where space  allows.  All Commissioners were
          interested in focusing efforts on local environmental issues while providing
        more education to the residents. Commissioner Cherrington, Williams, and
        Zimmermann showed support for frequent outreach by newsletter and
         keeping residents and partners more engaged in activities related to the
         Environmental Commission.

8. Adjournment
       a. At 7:51 P.M., Commissioner Zimmermann made a motion to adjourn.
        Commissioner  Cherrington  seconded  the  motion. The  motion was
         unanimously approved by voice vote.
