Call to Order at 7:08pm by Heidi Kuharich; Roll Call: Anni Holm, Paulina Garcia, Uwe Gsedl, Heidi Kuharich, Deborah Walsh, and City Liaison Daniel Peck in attendance; Quorum established 2. Public Participation: N/A 3. Approve Minutes of April 6, 2023 a. Deborah Walsh made motion to approve, Paulina Garcia seconded; Approved unanimously 4. Items for Discussion and Possible Action a. Art Banner Exhibit 2023: Map/Website i. Anni Holm noted that one of the banners was incorrectly placed and requested repositioning; Dan Peck requested an e-mail with the specifics to follow-up 1. Map will be promoted on website, linked to People’s Choice voting; timing to coincide with Blooming Fest 2. Heidi Kuharich will communicate to all artists regarding open voting week of 5.22.23 ii. Banners are expected to hang throughout the summer, until MID banners are hung in September 1. Deadline of 9.4.23 established for People’s Choice voting b. 2024 Art Banner Theme i. Continuation of last month’s discussion ii. Heidi Kuharich will seek comprehensive list of past themes for assistance in selecting future themes iii. Heidi Kuharich noted that the City’s theme for the 175th founding of the Community of Junction is “Coming Together” iv. Continued discussion to decision on 2024 Art Banner Theme of “Time to Celebrate/Tiempo para Celebrar”; motion made by Deborah Walsh, seconded by Uwe Gsedl, unanimous v. Theme will be promoted along with Blooming Fest and 2023 Banner marketing c. Arteculture Reception i. Buddy Plumlee confirmed details: 5.20.23 at 3pm, Kindred Coffee Roasters; expected to hang for duration of May ii. Dan Peck is working with Sarah Harms/Kindred to provide light reception food/beverage d. Summer 2023: Andy Warhol “Loteria” Initiative i. Heidi Kuharich and Paulina Garcia reviewed the finer points of the planning process; Peck reported that decals can only be affixed to windows externally (not from inside window looking out) ii. Commission reviewed financial considerations involved; determined artists will be encouraged to design two cards each and will receive a $25 Blick card iii. Heidi Kuharich and Paulina Garcia will construct artist guidelines in Spanish and have established artist spreadsheet to track card selection 5. Other Business a. Heidi Kuharich requested update from last month regarding the disappearance of Public Art on City website; Dan Peck reported that the website is undergoing a major overhaul and the art will be reposted b. Heidi Kuharich requested update from last month regarding the Roles & Responsibilities; Dan Peck reported that a summer intern would be assigned to this task; Commission had to reclarify the intent of this longstanding question was for the Liaison role c. Uwe Gsedl requested an update on the WeGo Amigo; Heidi Kuharich reported that it has been hosted by Gallery 200/MCCD since leaving the Library and is on display there d.
