Call to Order at 7:00pm by Heidi Kuharich; Roll Call: Paulina Garcia, Jacob Hernandez, Heidi Kuharich, Buddy Plumlee, Bruce Treudt, Deborah Walsh, and City Liaison Daniel Peck in attendance; Quorum established 2. Public Participation: N/A 3. Approve Minutes of August 31, 2023 a. Buddy Plumlee made motion to approve, Jacob Hernandez seconded; Approved unanimously 4. Items for Discussion and Possible Action a. Art Banner Exhibit 2023 i. Confirm 2023 People’s Choice Award (PCA) Recipient: Sienna Sherrier 97 votes of 314 total; Buddy Plumlee made motion to confirm, Jacob Hernandez seconded; Unanimous ii. City Council Recognition: People’s Choice Award and Banner Artists: October 16, 2023 @ 7pm 1. Heidi Kuharich sought confirmation from Dan Peck: all certificates signed by Mayor and ready for distribution, all banners ready for distribution; PCA banner reserved for presentation 2. Heidi Kuharich will manage distribution of all following the City Council presentation 3. Heidi Kuharich managing Gallery 200 exhibit offered to PCA Recipient b. Art Banner Exhibit 2024 1. Heidi Kuharich suggested considering on-the-ground way to vote for PCA; discussion followed on adding QR code with note to “vote for your favorite” (or similar) to banners or poles 2. Following up from 2023 juror process: adding note to artist guidelines re: no acceptance of AI-generated art c. Loteria Update i. Heidi Kuharich reported that prizes will be awarded to winners in the form of Jorge’s “one free paleta” certificate; she is managing the process of confirmation and award ii. Heidi Kuharich reported that an exhibit of Loteria originals will be displayed at Kindred Coffee Roasters in November; Buddy Plumlee will hang the exhibit; Heidi Kuharich will provide files of digital art and tags for all pieces iii. Heidi Kuharich will send files of all K9 Loteria images for promotion d. Cultural Arts Commission Master Plan i. Heidi Kuharich updated Commission on latest guidance from Michael Guttman and requested workgroup to push ahead; Deborah Walsh and Bruce Treudt joined workgroup ii. Heidi Kuharich requested Uwe Gsedl may be able to photograph all public art for Master Plan as much from website was lost; Bruce Treudt offered to assist; photo collection would include all CAC public art as well as other installations within West Chicago (recorded accordingly) iii. Discussion continued on need for new survey in light of much data being lost in data breach and what’s left is outdated and too cumbersome 1. Heidi Kuharich introduced draft of new survey; will distribute to all members for review and feedback; when complete, staff will assist with community distribution and data collection (online survey) iv. Dan Peck suggested that the imminent Water Tower Rehab should be included in the Master Plan e. Upcoming Meeting Dates i. November TBD: November 9 ii. December 7 (noted Frosty Fest Date: 12.2.23) 5. Other Business a. Heidi Kuharich requested follow-up on CAC Budget 2024 as earlier discussions indicated it would be a CAC responsibility to approve; Dan Peck confirmed it had been submitted with Banners 2024 as the only item budgeted b. Heidi Kuharich requested follow-up on Arts DuPage Proclamation; Dan Peck confirmed it had been approved during the 10.3.23 City Council Meeting c. Heidi Kuharich requested follow-up on CAC At-a-Glance from webpage and Public Art page of website d. Heidi Kuharich noted that annual City Museum Tales Tombstones Tell scheduled for 10.6.23; Paulina Garcia noted that she would be one of this year’s readers 6. Adjournment: 8.01pm
