CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION MINUTES
                              Thursday, June 6, 2024
               West Chicago City Hall – 475 Main Street - 7:15 p.m.
                              Approved: August 1, 2024


1.  Call to Order, Roll Call, Establishment of a Quorum
    Chairman Kuharich called the meeting to order at 7:18 p.m. Roll Call found Commissioners Garcia, Gsedl,
    Hernandez, Plumlee, Treudt, and Walsh present. Also in attendance was Marketing and Communications
    Manager Daniel Peck and Alderman Lori Chassee.

2.  Public Participation
    None.

3.  Cultural Arts Commission Meeting Minutes of May 2, 2024
    Commissioner Walsh made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Plumlee, to approve the minutes of May 2,
    2024, with requested changes as discussed. Voting Aye: Chairman Kuharich, Commissioners Garcia, Gsedl,
    Hernandez, and Treudt. Motion Carried.

5.  Other Business
    A.  2024 Art Banner Exhibit Status: Manager Peck reported that banners have been installed, and the exhibit
      map is still in progress. The People’s Choice Award winner will be announced on Monday, October 21, at
         the start of the City Council meeting. Discussion about adding small signage to street poles continued.
    B.  2025 Art Banner Exhibit Status: Commissioners discussed potential jurors for the 2025 Exhibit and the
         addition of gateway banners.
    C.  Loteria: Commissioner Plumlee will reach out to local artist(s) to solicit interest in participating.
    D.  Arteculture: Commissioner Plumlee reported that himself and Commissioner Treudt donated snacks for the
           artist reception and 14 artists were featured in the event.
    E.  Olmec Trails – Commission Involvement: Manager Peck provided further clarification on the Exhibit.
    F.  Forever Lilly Signage: Commissioners further discussed establishing a formal process for installing and
        maintaining signage and artwork on existing buildings, stressing the need to be considerate of potential new
       owners of the buildings.
    G.  Murals/Long-Term Projects: Commissioners discussed continuing mural installations in West Chicago,
        covering locations, funding, and maintenance. Commissioner Plumlee suggested considering a local artist
       from Elephant Room Art Gallery for a potential mural.

6.  Adjournment
    At 8:02 p.m., Chairman Kuharich adjourned the meeting.
