Call to Order, Roll Call, Establishment of a Quorum Chairman Kuharich called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. Roll Call found Commissioners Gsedl, Plumlee, Treudt, and Walsh present. Commissioner Garcia and Hernandez were absent. Also in attendance was Marketing and Communications Manager Daniel Peck and Alderman Lori Chassee. 2. Public Participation None. 3. Cultural Arts Commission Meeting Minutes of April 4, 2024 Commissioner Treudt made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to approve the minutes of April 4, 2024, with requested changes as discussed. Voting Aye: Chairman Kuharich, Commissioners Gsedl and Plumlee. Motion Carried. 4. Items for Discussion and Possible Action A. 2024 Loteria Proposal: Commissioner Walsh made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Gsedl, to accept the draft proposal for a proposed 2024 Loteria initiative and have City staff present the proposal at the next Public Affairs Committee meeting. Voting Aye: Chairman Kuharich and Commissioner Plumlee and Treudt. Motion Carried. B. 2025 Art Banner Exhibit: Theme Selection. Commissioner Gsedl made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Walsh, to approve Sustenance/Sustento as the theme for the 2025 Art Banner Exhibit. Voting Aye: Chairman Kuharich and Commissioner Plumlee and Treudt. Motion Carried. 5. Other Business A. 2024 Art Banner Exhibit Status: Commissioners discussed the status of 2024 Art Banner Exhibit. Manager Peck reported that banners may be ready for production within the follow week. B. Arteculture: Commissioner Plumlee provided and update on the Arteculture Exhibit that will take place during Blooming Fest. C. Olmec Trails – Commission Involvement: Manager Peck provided an overview of the upcoming art exhibit, Olmec Trails: Culture and Legacy, and explained the level of volunteer involvement the Mexican Cultural Center DuPage would be seeking from the Commission, which included decorating around sculptures that are located within West Chicago. Commissioners did not express interest. 6. Adjournment At 7:42 p.m., Chairman Kuharich adjourned the meeting.
