Adjournment ===== PDF PAGE 4 ===== [Extraction: OCR (rendered-page OCR)] MAYORAL PROCLAMATION Honoring Fredericka Howard (Krauss) On Her 90" Birthday WHEREAS, Fredericka Howard arrived to West Chicago in 1956 being the lone Art teacher at the Community High School District 94, and WHEREAS, Fredericka Howard became a beloved teacher, community leader and Artist working in colored pencils, Indian ink and watercolors; and WHEREAS, more than just a self-described “line scratcher’, Fredericka Howard captures the souls of her subjects — and as she says, she is “always learning;” and WHEREAS, throughout her career as an educator Fredericka Howard taught hundreds of students in District 94 and District 33 at Turner School, Pioneer School, Lincoln School and the Middle School; and WHEREAS, Fredericka Howard as the “Art Picture Lady” visited numerous elementary schools to introduce young students to the history of famous artists and their works; and WHEREAS, Fredericka Howard retired in 1990 and continues to volunteer her efforts serving the City of West Chicago as a founder of the Cultural Arts Commission, Railroad Days Arts Fiesta and Gallery 200; and WHEREAS, Fredericka Howard, now at 90 years young, continues to draw and support the arts in her adopted hometown of West Chicago. Now, Therefore, Be It Proclaimed, that on the occasion of her 90" birthday, I, Mayor Ruben Pineda, Mayor of West Chicago, Illinois, extend to Fredericka Howard, a precious gem of this time, heartfelt congratulations on her celebration.
