MINUTES
PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
Monday, July 15, 2024, 6:15 P.M.
Call to Order, Roll Call, and Establishment of a Quorum.
Chairman Chassee called the meeting to order at 6:15pm. Roll Call found Alderman
Brown (via phone), Birch Ferguson, Smith, Short and Banas.
Alderman Hallett was not in attendance.
Approval of Minutes.
A. Public Affairs Committee Minutes of June 3, 2024. Alderman Banas made a
motion, seconded by Alderman Smith to approve the minutes of the Public Affairs
Committee. Voting Aye: Chairman Chassee, Alderman Brown, Birch Ferguson, Smith,
Short and Banas. Voting Nay: 0. Abstain: 0. Motion carried.
Public Participation / Presentations.
Items for Consent.
A. West Chicago High School Homecoming Parade. Alderman Short made a motion,
seconded by Alderman Banas to direct this item to City Council for approval. Voting
Aye: Chairman Chassee, Alderman Brown, Birch Ferguson, Smith, Short and Banas.
Voting Nay: Abstain: 0. Motion carried.
B. Wheaton Academy Homecoming. Alderman Short made a motion, seconded by
Alderman Banas to direct this item to City Council for approval. Voting Aye: Chairman
Chassee, Alderman Brown, Birch Ferguson, Smith, Short and Banas. Voting Nay:
Abstain: 0. Motion carried.
Items for Discussion.
A. “No Parking Zone” on westside of Sherman Street between Church and Brown Street.
Chief Fleury is working with Mehul Patel, Director of Public Works on finding a
solution to this parking issue.

9. Adjournment. Alderman Birch Ferguson made a motion to adjourn, seconded by
Alderman Banas. The motion was approved by voice vote, and the meeting adjourned at
approximately 6:25pm.
