TITLE:      2024 Art Banner Exhibit

ITEM SUMMARY:

In the 2024 Art Banner Exhibit, there were 182 nominations for the People’s Choice Award. Two artworks
were particularly close, with one receiving 43 votes and the other 42. The next highest had 24 votes. The
Commission needs to confirm the results and the award winner during their September 5 meeting, with all
members having received a link to the relevant Google document. The remaining schedule includes:

•   Confirmation of Voting Results by Commission                  Thursday, September 5 (CAC Meeting)
•   Notification Sent to All Exhibit Artists by City Staff                Friday, September 13
•   Banner Organization Event Scheduled by Commission            Thursday, October 3 (CAC Meeting)
•   People’s Choice Award Announcement by Commission/Council   Monday, October 21 (Council Meeting)
•   Banner Pickup Event Scheduled by Commission               December 20 (On or Before)
Staff suggests an alternative pickup method used for the Veterans’ Day Display banners, where residents
contact the Marketing and Communications Division and banners are collected from a receptacle located
in the City Hall Council Chamber within 5 business days. The Commission can consider this option
instead of the originally proposed pickup event.

MOTION PROPOSED:

•   Proceed with making a motion to approve the People’s Choice Award winner for 2024.
•   (Optional) Proceed with having staff manage banner pickup.
