ITEM SUMMARY:
The City of West Chicago Building Permit Fee Schedule was updated in March 2023. Since then
interest was expressed in removing certain fees for improvement related to projects associated with
the Americans with Disabilities Act, such as the installation of ramps, mechanical lifts and similar
renovations for disabled residents. Staff offers a text amendment that would waive building permit fees
for disabled residents at their primary residence. The typical amount waived will be $80.00.
ACTION PROPOSED:
Consideration of Ordinance No. 24-O-0026, to waive fees for ADA-related improvements at the primary
residence of disables residents.

ORDINANCE NO. 24-0-0026
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF WEST CHICAGO - FEE SCHEDULE
BE IT ORDAINED by the City council of the City of West Chicago, DuPage County, Illinois,
duly assembled in a regular meeting, as follows:
Section 1. That Section 3.1 (Schedule of Fees — Miscellaneous Permit Fees) of Appendix G, of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of West Chicago be amended to add the following permit category
alphabetically to list of Miscellaneous permit fees:
“ADA — Renovations for ramps, mechanical lifts, and ADA renovations required for disabled
residents at only their primary residence in the City of West Chicago are exempt from any permit
fees”
