ITEM SUMMARY:
A local business requested a stop sign to be installed at the curvature in the road where Helena Drive
becomes Charles Ct to assist with speeding matters. Upon staff review, since this is a curvature in the
roadway and not an intersection a stop sign was not recommended by staff. The staff did recommend
properly delineating the traffic lanes by installing a double yellow pavement marking at the centerline of
the roadway, which was an acceptable solution to the business. The business subsequently requested no
parking signs on both sides of the street within the limits of the proposed double-yellow marking limits to
provide improved sight distance and visibility as vehicles enter and exit the business parking lot. Staff
agrees with the no parking request.
The attached proposed ordinance 25-O-0028 is an amendment to Chapter 17, Article XVII. Schedules of
Designated Streets, Division 6. Parking Prohibited at All Times, Section 17-191(e). Designated;
Compliance Required.
e Helena Dr, both sides of the street, starting at a point approximately 600-feet west of the
intersection of Helena Dr with Wegner Dr, and continuing for approximately 415-feet west.
Charles Ct, both sides of the street, starting at a point approximately 700-feet south of the
intersection of Charles Ct with Washington St, and continuing for approximately 415-feet south.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF WEST CHICAGO — CHAPTER 17 TRAFFIC, ARTICLE
XVII, SCHEDULES OF DESIGNATED STREETS; DIVISION 6. PARKING
PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES; SECTIONS 17-191E. DESIGNATED;
COMPLIANCE REQUIRED
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
West Chicago, Illinois, in regular session assembled, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 17 TRAFFIC, ARTICLE XVII. SCHEDULES OF
DESIGNATED STREETS; DIVISION 6. PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES;
Sections 17-191 (e). Designated; compliance required, of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of West Chicago is hereby amended by adding thereto the following language:
Helena Drive. Both sides of the street, starting at a point approximately 600-feet
west of the intersection of Helena Dr with Wegner Dr, and continuing for
approximately 415-feet west.
Charles Court. Both sides of the street, starting at a point approximately 700-feet
south of the intersection of Charles Ct with Washington St, and continuing for
approximately 415-feet south.
Section 2. That all ordinances and resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict with
the provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict, expressly repealed.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days from
and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
