Re: Engagement Letter — Special Counsel
Dear Ms. Messino:
Thank you for requesting me to submit a proposal to represent the City of West Chicago as Special
Counsel regarding the greenhouse litigation currently pending between the City and Daniel Bovey (the
“litigation’”). Our firm would be pleased to represent the City of West Chicago for its legal needs relating
to the litigation. I will serve as your primary contact. This means that I will personally work on your matters
and have direct supervision over other attorneys assisting with your files. You may contact me at any time
by phone or email, and we strive to return calls as soon as possible.
For our services, attorney rates would be billed at $275 per hour for all attorneys. We bill on a
monthly basis, and payments are due within thirty (30) days after receipt of the bill. The statement for
services rendered will include expenses advanced for photocopying, legal research, travel fees and all out-
of-pocket costs. Third-party expenses connected with this case will be forwarded to you for direct payment.
Our billings are detailed as to the date the service was rendered and contain an explanation of the work
activity performed. This detail is designed to apprise you with particularity as to what work was performed,
who was called, etc. While we attempt to make each time entry clearly understandable, we always welcome
any inquiries you may have about a billing matter.
It is the policy of the firm that the City of West Chicago may terminate our services at any time
upon payment to Robbins Schwartz, Ltd. of all fees and costs that may be due.
The firm also reserves the right to withdraw as your counsel after providing you with at least ten
(10) days' written notice for failure to pay the legal fees or expenses.

to do business with you and look forward to working together. If you agree to retain our services, simply
sign this letter as indicated below and return it to my attention.
