Alderman Smith called the meeting to order at 6:15pm. Roll Call found Alderman Alcantar-Garcia, Avifia-Soto, Carreto- Mufioz, Birch-Ferguson, Morano and Santiago. A. Selection of Chairman and Vice Chairman Alderman Morano nominated Alderman Smith as the Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee, seconded by Alderman Avifia-Soto and the vote was unanimous for approval. Alderman Birch Ferguson nominated Alderman Morano as the Vice Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee, seconded by Alderman Carreto-Mufioz and the vote was unanimous for approval. Approval of Minutes. A. Public Affairs Committee Minutes of May 19, 2025. Alderman Morano made a motion, seconded by Alderman Alcantar-Garcia to approve the minutes of the Public Affairs Committee. Public Participation / Presentations. Rafael Vieyr, Thomas Tawney and Sugeira Tellez all members of Despertar Latino. They wanted to introduce themselves since their organization will oversee the City’s 2025 Mexican Independence Day Festivities. There was also participation by three residents of Arbor Street, including Steve Treudt, who addressed their concerns to the Committee of the semi-truck traffic down Arbor Street. Chief Fleury responded to their concerns and informed them that extra patrol will be added to the area and will continue to work on solutions on this ongoing issue. Items for Consent. A.
