     The opportunity to speak to the City Council is provided for those who have a
       question or comment on an agenda item or a City of West Chicago issue. The City
      Council appreciates hearing from our residents and your thoughts and questions
       are valued. The City Council strives to make the best decisions for the City and
       public input is very helpful.

      Respect for the duties of the City Council and for the democratic process will be
      adhered to – in this regard, civility and a sense of decorum will be strictly followed.
       All speakers must address their comments to the Mayor.  Comments that are
       personally condescending will not be permitted.  Speakers shall be courteous and
      should not make statements that are personally disrespectful to members of the City
      Council or City staff.

       Please use the podium in the center aisle.  Please announce your name before
      commencing – all public comments are limited to three (3) minutes and each citizen
        will be permitted to speak only once.  It is the City Council’s policy not to engage in
       dialogue during Public Comment. Any questions raised will be addressed by City
        staff or an elected official outside of the City Council meeting.

PROCLAMATION
Recognizing Autism Acceptance Month
WHEREAS, autism, or autism spectrum disorder, is a developmental condition that affects how individuals communicate,
interact, and experience the world around them; and
WHEREAS, autism is present in people of all racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and each person with
autism has unique strengths, perspectives, and support needs; and
WHEREAS, increasing understanding and acceptance of autism helps build a more inclusive, supportive, and welcoming
community for individuals with autism and their families; and
WHEREAS, individuals with autism contribute in meaningful ways to our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and
community life; and
WHEREAS, Autism Acceptance Month provides an opportunity to promote respect, encourage inclusion, and recognize
the importance of removing barriers so that all people can fully participate in community life; and
WHEREAS, our community is strengthened when we foster awareness, acceptance, and opportunities for individuals of
all abilities to thrive;
NOW, THEREFORE, Daniel Bovey, Mayor of the City of West Chicago, do hereby proclaim April 2026 as Autism Acceptance
Month in the City of West Chicago, and encourage all residents to join in promoting understanding, inclusion, and
acceptance of individuals with autism and their families.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, | have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of West Chicago to be affixed this
