2025 Sewer Lining Program Underway Along Roosevelt Road
The City of West Chicago’s 2025 Sewer Lining Program is now underway along Roosevelt Road between Town Road and Bishop Street.
As part of this program, approximately 2,700 feet of 27-inch sanitary sewer will be lined to extend the life of the system and improve service reliability. The City’s contractor, Hoerr Construction, has begun cleaning the sanitary sewer lines in this area through October 3 (weather permitting). The lining process will follow shortly after the cleaning work is complete and is expected to continue through November 1.
Residents and motorists may notice crews working in the area. Hoerr Construction employees will carry proper identification and wear required safety equipment at all times.
At this time, no traffic impacts are anticipated; however, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution and be mindful of crews and equipment when traveling through the area.
Why Sewer Lining Is Needed
Sewer lining is a cost-effective and efficient way to repair aging pipes without digging up entire streets. By creating a new pipe inside the old one, the lining process:
- Extends the life of existing pipes by decades.
- Seals cracks and leaks, protecting the environment and reducing extra water that enters the system.
- Minimizes disruption, since the work is done through manholes instead of large excavations.
- Keeps costs lower than full pipe replacement.
This method allows the City to maintain reliable service while avoiding unnecessary inconvenience for residents and businesses.
The sewer lining program is one of several proactive steps the City is taking to preserve essential services and reduce long-term costs, while ensuring West Chicago’s infrastructure remains strong and resilient for years to come.
