Fire Hydrant Painting Project Underway through June 2026
The City of West Chicago will be painting approximately 460 fire hydrants through June 8, 2026, weather permitting. For project location details, click the map to the right.
Residents are asked to remove any plantings or decorations around fire hydrants. The City or its contractor, Go Painters, will not be responsible for damage to items located near hydrants in the City right-of-way.
Work at each hydrant will take place over several days. The process includes sandblasting to remove old paint, followed by a primer and two finish coats. The primer and base coats are different colors to ensure proper coverage, with only the final coat being yellow.
