City Honors St. Andrews Golf & Country Club’s Centennial Anniversary
The City of West Chicago recently recognized St. Andrews Golf & Country Club for reaching an extraordinary milestone: 100 years in business.
During the June 15, 2026 City Council meeting, Mayor Daniel Bovey and the West Chicago City Council presented a proclamation honoring St. Andrews Golf & Country Club and the Jemsek-Hinckley family for a century of leadership, innovation, and service.
Founded in 1926, St. Andrews has grown from an ambitious vision for public golf into one of the most recognized golf destinations in the region. What makes the achievement especially remarkable is not simply the club’s longevity, but the fact that it has remained family-owned and operated for five generations. Today, St. Andrews is recognized as Illinois’ oldest family-owned and operated golf course and one of the longest continuously family-owned public golf facilities in the United States.

Over the past century, St. Andrews has welcomed millions of rounds of golf while helping shape the evolution of public golf itself. Under the leadership of the Jemsek-Hinckley family, the club became known for bringing country club-quality facilities, services, and hospitality to the general public, creating an experience that made the game more accessible to golfers of all backgrounds.
The facility has evolved over the years to include two championship golf courses, a nationally recognized practice center, banquet and event facilities, and a variety of programs that serve golfers of all ages and skill levels. Along the way, St. Andrews has earned numerous local and national honors while remaining committed to the values that have guided the business for generations.
Equally important is the club’s connection to the broader community. St. Andrews has provided employment opportunities for generations of families, hosted charitable events and fundraisers, supported local organizations, and welcomed countless residents and visitors through its doors. As the club enters its second century, members of the fifth generation of the Jemsek-Hinckley family are actively involved in the business, continuing a tradition of stewardship that began 100 years ago.
